This herb is useful for prostate health in men. Saw Palmetto inactivates the enzyme 5a-Reductase type I and II and hence limits the formation of the potent androgen DHT which is shown to cause Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BHP) (II) and male pattern baldness (I).
